With nearly four decades of construction industry experience under his belt, James R. Hewett continues to lead the company he founded, Hewett-Kier Construction Inc., to new heights. With a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Michigan, Mr. Hewett began his career working as a construction laborer during the summer while in high school in Miami, Fla. After graduating college, he went to work for Arlen Realty on a shopping center project in Dillon, S.C. From 1971 to 1977, he worked on various projects throughout the Southeast.

In July 1978, Mr. Hewett returned to South Florida and founded Hewett-Kier Construction Inc., headquartered in Pompano Beach, with the intent of specializing in government (public sector) construction projects. From the beginning, Hewett-Kier has grown through the sheer determination and hard work of its founder. Mr. Hewett has always been an active
contributor at the job site with his hands-on approach. He continues to get involved
as the executive lead on every Hewett-Kier project.

Mr. Hewett is married to Catherine, a former Broward County High School teacher, and together
they have raised 2 daughters, Casey and Nicole, who both work at Hewett-Kier Construction.
Mr. Hewett is a fitness enthusiast who enjoys golfing, hiking and skiing.
